The “Razer Cynosa” keyboard itself is a keyboard which has the same universal features as any other keyboard, but it’s been upgraded to an extent. It’s been given a spill resistant design as well as soft-cushioned keys. Meaning that if someone were to take a small break and decided to have lunch, if they spill their drink, their keyboard would be completely fine. Allowing them as a Mechanical Engineering major to have a highly efficient keyboard or long-lasting keyboard. Additionally, the soft-cushioned keys make it so if someone is up late at night finishing up some code, their family wouldn’t be disturbed by hundreds of lines they construct as their code with typing or the superfluous amount of keyboard shortcuts in M.E. All in all, this tool serves great purpose to the work any Mechanical Engineering major.
To get a better grasp of how this tool of the M.E. major works, in this document the main parts of the keyboard will be described. These parts include the cursor and monitor controls, the numeric keypad, typing area, and function keys.
Before continuing to the components of a keyboard, a general description or purpose of the keyboard is to serve as an input device. In this situation or scenario, the input is the information or thing supplied to the computer in order to process it then produce it onto your monitor. Unlike a laptop or phone, a PC or computer setup doesn’t come with a built-in way of inputting information, which is where the keyboard would come in providing that method. The keyboard would come in providing that method. The keyboard picked, “Razer Cynosa”, has a length of 18.24 inches, a height of 6.07 inches, and a width of 1.22 inches. The amount that the keyboard weights is 2.09 pounds, and its color is solid black or simply black. This keyboard is wired and will connect to your PC through the USB port which is something that allows you to connect external devices to your computer. However, this keyboard requires one lithium battery to operate which is already built into the keyboard.
The first main component of the keyboard is the typing area. The typing area is the place where most of the information is inserted into the computer. The typing area for computers are usually the same with their QWERTY formatting for the keys, but there are some slight differences. A prime example of this being for Apple keyboards. Rather than having “alt” and “window” keys, which Microsoft keyboards have, they have “option” and “command” keys. Despite being different they still serve the same purpose of providing shortcuts to the person utilizing the device. A shortcut is a combination of buttons you can press in order to access something faster. For instance, you could use the combination “Command + Shift + 4” in order to take a snippet or screenshot of your page. The other keys in the typing area are the numbered keys. The number keys allow you to input numbers into the device and allow you to input symbols with a combination of shift and a number.
The second main component of the keyboard are the function keys. The function keys similarly to shortcuts allow you quicker access to operations of the device. The function keys are from F1-F12, and each key has its own purpose. The F1 key will allow you to access the Help menu or section for most applications. I say most applications because these functions can operate differently in different applications. For example, how on most devices you can press F5 while in a browser in order to refresh a page. Additionally, if you’re using an Apple device if you hold the fn key then press F5 you can activate voice over, a tool which will read the items on your screen.
The third component of the keyboard is the cursor and monitor controls. The cursor and monitor controls are located in between the typing area and the numeric keyboard. The left right down and up keys are independent keys which allow you to move the screen up down and left and right if given the option to when you visit a website or a document. The insert key allows you write over old text which is slowly replaced by that new text that you are writing. The home key allows you to return to the initial portion of a webpage. The page up key as well page down key are directory keys which allow you to go up and down on a webpage. The delete key allows you to delete a page or document if used. The end key takes you to the end of a page if given the option. The other keys located in that area which are the print screen, scroll lock, and Pause/Break key are user functions that allow you to process the respective function easier similarly to shortcuts.
The fourth component of the keyboard is the numeric keyboard. The numeric keyboard in a way is positioned to kind of look like a calculator on the right side of the keyboard. It has 9 keys with the numbers 1-9 on them then 0 underneath. Additionally, it has the operations addition, subtraction, asterisk or the symbol used to represent multiplication in code or on computer, division and an equal sign. Along with that you can use the number lock key to change these keys into directional mode which means they’ll move the screen rather than function as numbers. This occurs when you have num lock or number lock on.
All in all, the keyboard or “Razer Cynosa” keyboard is a tool with many functions that makes the tasks of my major and future minor very easy to complete. Additionally, enables processes or actions of ME, Mechanical Engineering or CSC to be done in a more feasible manner.
